Gold Medal Ales are produced monthly in recognition of some of the 'greats' of history.

On December 7th 1983, Fred Dibnah was prevented from felling a 160ft mill chimney by a ginger tom called 'George', that had been put up there by a prankster. George avoided Fred's grasp and was left up top all night in the vain hope that he would find his own way down.
But it was all to no avail and the following day, an RSPCA expert rushed in to trap George before Fred could perform his party piece with both cat and chimney.
